    South Korea's Kia Motors opened its doors in 1944 manufacturing bicycle parts, shifted to motorcycles in 1961 and then trucks in 1971.

    Kia established Kia Motors America in 1992 and officially launched the company in 1994 with the Sephia.

    Kia also includes the Spectra and the Sportage sport utility vehicle. 2001 will feature the Rio and the Optima.
