    Launched as Toyota's luxury marque in 1989, Lexus was formed to compete with Acura's cornering of the import luxury market.

    Beginning with the LS 400, Lexus quickly became a luxury car powerhouse, boasting a solid lineup of sedans (the IS 300, the ES 300, the GS 300 and GS 400, the LS 400) coupes (the SC 300 and SC 400) and sport utility vehicles (the RX 300 and the LX 470).
